Mid-April storm to bring rain and snow to the northern tier
A mid-April storm will gradually move east on Friday. For the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, rain is possible. This is likely to continue into Saturday, expanding into the Great Lakes and reaching the Northeast on Sunday. Late Sunday into Monday, enough cold air will allow some wrap around snow to break out in parts of the Great Lakes, where 3-5" will be possible, though most of this should stay on the northern fringe of the region.
