Two areas of concern for greatest risk of spring snowmelt is Upper Midwest, Rockies

Above-average temperatures this week will begin spring snowmelt. This happens each spring, when temperatures gradually warm above freezing enough consistently to melt snow that has stuck around all winter. There are two main areas we are focusing on at this time: The Upper Midwest and The Rockies. This threat will shift to difference regions over time as the spring progresses.
