Severe storms target the South with tornadoes, hail, strong winds possible

Severe weather potential will ramp up across the region Thursday afternoon and evening. Tornadoes, quarter size hail and wind gusts in excess of 60 mph appear possible at this time. Another episode of severe weather is expected Friday as the cold front continues to advance east. Light to moderate rain will also begin to spread into portions of the mid-Atlantic/Northeast by Friday.
