BE NOLA formed to encourage Black teachers, future leaders to stay in community
After Hurricane Katrina, thousands of Black teachers were laid off from their jobs, and fled the city. BE NOLA (Black Education for NOLA) was formed to provide resources to encourage future leaders to stay in their community. FOX Weather's Mitti Hicks met with a NOLA native who stayed through Katrina and will discuss how she has benefited from this program in her role as a school leader.
