Wilbur-by-the-Sea oceanfront homes unsafe following dangerous storm surge
Nicole might be remnants now, but on Thursday morning it packed a punch making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane along Florida's east coastline south of Vero Beach. Dangerous storm surge left beachfront homes teetering on the edge or, in some cases, completely washed away. One of the coastal communities with serious infrastructure damage is Wilbur-by-the-Sea. This stretch of beach is in unincorporated Volusia County, one of the rare spots on the coast that does not have a condominium or hotel high rise. Instead, it was charming beachfront homes. FOX Weather Meteorologist Katie Garner was there as families returned.
