Significant winter weather impacting Central Plains, Midwest

A winter storm is expected to bring snow to the central U.S. Low pressure emerging into the Central Plains on Saturday will force a band of snow to develop from west to east through the weekend. Wind chills as low as 30 degrees below zero tonight, and snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches likely from northeast Kansas to the Chicago metro area.
