Area to watch for tropical development in Gulf, ahead of climatological shift in hurricane season
The National Hurricane Center said Tuesday that a disorganized area of showers and storms could slowly develop as it moves across the Yucatán Peninsula and into Bay of Campeche through Wednesday. A key late-season feature to watch is the development of the Central American Gyre (CAG), a large-scale area of low pressure that can spawn tropical disturbances capable of developing rapidly under favorable conditions. The CAG typically becomes more active during the latter half of October.
