Heat dome fueling severe storms in northern Plains

A building heat dome is expanding out of the southern states and into the heart of the country. As with most summer heat domes, extreme heat will be a major concern. Many major cities are expected to see temperatures soar, with heat index values reaching 100 to 110 degrees at times.
