Tropical Storm Fausto could become the season's first hurricane as Elida brings swells to California
The Eastern Pacific basin remains active with two tropical systems taking very different paths. Tropical Storm Elida is weakening as it moves over cooler waters, while Tropical Storm Fausto is strengthening in a much more favorable environment and is expected to become the basin’s first hurricane after Elida failed to do so. While Elida is expected to have no direct impact on California, the National Hurricane Center warned that it will still generate life-threatening rip currents for parts of Southern California during the next several days. The storm's remnants could also bring rain to parts of Southern California as well.
