A long-lived supercell that formed in Nebraska overnight Sunday into Monday produced a 131-mph wind gust in Holabird, South Dakota, on Monday morning — the strongest wind gust recorded in the state since record-keeping began in 2003. This intense thunderstorm produced produced a confirmed tornado in Marshall County, South Dakota, in addition to Severe Thunderstorm Warnings across South Dakota, North Dakota and parts of Minnesota. The strength of this thunderstorm has prompted NOAA's Storm Prediction Center to issue a Level 3 out of 5 risk of severe thunderstorms for the eastern Dakotas and west-Central Minnesota including Aberdeen and Fargo. Destructive wind gusts are expected to be the main hazard.
