Severe storms threaten large area from Oklahoma to Michigan; Kansas and Missouri at risk of large hail
Thunderstorms will develop Wednesday afternoon along a cold front stretching from Oklahoma to Michigan. The highest threat for severe storms includes portions of Kansas and Missouri with damaging winds and large hail being the primary concerns. Some of the hail could be significant and be larger than 2". In parts of Southeast Kansas, a pocket of higher instability and wind shear is forecasted to which a couple of tornadoes are possible. This region is under a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather according to NOAA's severe thunderstorm risk scale. This threat area includes over 5 million people, which includes Kansas City.
