Large hail, powerful winds blast Alabama, as storms provide rain for drought-stricken Southeast

Severe thunderstorms rumbled across Alabama beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting through the overnight hours, bringing hail, strong wind gusts and even a tornado to the northern part of the state. However, these storms are also providing much-needed rain for much of the Southeast which is experiencing widespread drought.
