Barbara briefly becomes Eastern Pacific's first hurricane of season; Cosme not far behind

Barbara officially became the first hurricane of the 2025 East Pacific hurricane season early Monday, but it was short-lived. By Monday evening, Barbara was back down to a strong tropical storm. Tropical Storm Cosme is nearing hurricane intensity and will also likely be the second hurricane of the season at some point early Tuesday.
