3 Reportedly killed in 50 car pileup in Pennsylvania

Three people were killed in the 50 vehicle crash in Pennsylvania reports the Associated Press. Whiteout conditions caused by snow squalls are blamed for the accident.

Blue Origin launch delays due to forecast wind

Six space tourists will launch in Blue Origin's New Shepard on Thursday morning. Jeff Bezos' company announced today it is delaying the lift off from Tuesday due to high winds in the forecast.

NPS: Firefighters from multiple agencies working Great Smoky Mountains wildfire

NPS officials said multiple agencies are fighting the Thomas Divide Complex fire. The Unified Command Center includes about 70 people from NPS, North Carolina Forest Service, Bryson City Fire Department, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Swain County Fire Department and Jackson County Emergency Management.

Texas wildfire grows to 33,000 acres

Texas A&M Forest Service officials said the Crittenburg Complex Fire in Coryell County is now estimated to be 33,175 acres and 0% contained.

Weather conditions, including wind and low humidity, will continue to make fighting wildfires difficult through mid-week.

Snow squall triggers multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported the crash took place on the northbound side of I-81 between exits 116 and 119 near the town of Pottsville, some 50 miles northeast of the state capital of Harrisburg.

Wildfires close some Great Smoky Mountains National Park trails, backcountry campsites

The Thomas Divide Fire Complex contains two fires, the Stone Pile Fire and Cooper Creek Fire, according to the National Park Service officials. Both wildfires started over the weekend when winds and fallen trees knocked down power lines.
