When will Mount Bachelor ski resort in Oregon open in December?

Let's see what the prediction markets, sponsored by Kalshi, are saying about when Mount Bachelor ski resort in Oregon will open this year?

OREGON – As fall continues, temperatures steadily drop across the northern U.S. as millions of winter-weather enthusiasts prepare to hit the slopes at the iconic Mount Bachelor ski resort this year.

As we inch closer to the meteorological start of winter, anticipation builds for skiers and snowboarders on opening day at the legendary resort.

In 2025, the resort opened on Dec. 23, just a year after the earliest season start since 1998, thanks to high snow totals in Nov. 2024.

This year, Mount Bachelor ski resort is expected to open on Dec. 4 at 9 am.

This is normal timing, as most ski resorts typically open between late Oct. and Dec.

The resort offers an award-winning beginner lesson program for those learning to ski or snowboard, with four specially designed lessons.

With over 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain, Mount Bachelor is the seventh-largest ski resort in North America, with an average snowbase of 150 to 200 inches.

This comes after the resort recorded about 2 to 3 inches of snow on Monday.

As winter weather conditions slowly improve in the region, prediction markets at Kalshi are breaking down the chances of Mount Bachelor opening on time or later than expected.

Experts expect an 80% chance that the resort opens as anticipated before Dec. 6.

It is worth noting that there is a 76% chance it opens before Dec. 20, which would be a worst-case scenario for staff and visitors looking to shred snow-filled slopes leading up to the holidays.
