SOUTHPORT, N.C. – An unusual customer stumbled into a bagel shop in North Carolina, scaring staff just before Halloween weekend.

Two men were bringing an oven into Bagel Dock Express in Southport, North Carolina, when they encountered a baby alligator behind the counter while on the clock last Thursday.

While delivering the oven to the already-closed store, someone left the back door open.

The alligator was walking behind the building in a parking lot before making a sharp right turn into the business through the back door and making its way through the kitchen to the front of the store.

Both men in the store were astonished, taking a moment to observe the tiny beast before grabbing a chair as an extra precaution to lead the reptile away.

Experts suggest that alligators sometimes end up in urban areas while trying to get from one body of water to another, so this baby likely got lost along the way.
