"The wolf has become increasingly bold, showing signs of habituation and a growing reliance on human food," Isle Royale National Park said.
The park has made multiple attempts to address the wolf's behavior through hazing—which typically involves various methods of scaring a wolf away without hurting it, improved trash and recycling management and stricter food storage rules, but the wolf's behavior around food and trash has continued.
During the closure, park staff will intensify hazing efforts during daylight hours in campgrounds and developed areas to discourage the wolf from returning.

The national park said it will continue to monitor and evaluate the closure as efforts continue. Their goal is to have the campsite reopened on Aug. 1, but they may have to extend the closure if necessary.
