Get ready for a soggy start to October. Tropical moisture from the Pacific, Caribbean and Gulf of America will combine to bring repeated rounds of heavy rain across parts of the East beginning Friday.
As an upper-level trough pulls that moisture farther inland, the setup is expected to fuel days of showers and thunderstorms.

As the surge in moisture climbs north, it will run into a wall of high pressure, creating a renewed dynamic rain event.
"The highest rain totals through Monday will be across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, where a widespread 2-3 inches is likely," said the FOX Forecast Center. "Totals of 3-5 inches or more are most likely across southern Louisiana and Mississippi."
