See it: Dozens of active dust devils caught on camera swirling on Mars surface

Experts at the European Space Agency recently discovered dozens of dust devils screeching across the planet’s surface in plain sight.

The planet Mars is home to many wonders waiting to be discovered by humans in the coming years.

Recently, experts at the European Space Agency (ESA) discovered dozens of dust devils screeching across the planet’s surface in plain sight.

According to the ESA, dust devils on Mars are similar to those on Earth in how they form, but are much larger and can move at speeds of over 145 mph.

This type of weather condition plays a key role in moving dust across the planet.

Images shared by the ESA show dozens of active dust devils captured by the High Resolution Stereo Camera, which combines multiple snapshots.

Mars is one of the most explored alien planets in our solar system, as it is the fourth planet away from the sun.

Mars is a dusty, cold, desert-like world with seasons, polar ice caps, extinct volcanoes and canyons, all with evidence that the planet was once home to life.

"One of Mars’ most dynamic weather patterns is the generation of dust storms, generally in the southern spring and summer," NASA officials said. "These storms can grow to encompass the whole planet."

The planet is full of canyons that stretch into a labyrinthine landscape known as Mamers Valles, named after the ancient Oscan language of Pre-Roman Italy, as "Mamers" means Mars and "Valles" means Valley.

This specific region of the planet dates back 3.8 billion years, to the late Noachian period.

Many of these features are signs of past activity related to water, lava or ice.

The planet, which was once warmer and covered with water, is about half the size of Earth, making it the seventh-largest planet in our solar system.
