Severe storms charge east threatening Southeast to mid-Atlantic

Meteorologists continue to track a storm with a possible moving through southern Virginia.

Meteorologists are tracking a storm capable of producing a tornado moving into central Virginia and have issued a Tornado Warning.

A Tornado Warning has been issued for Baker and Columbia counties in Northeast Florida until at least 8:30 p.m.

A storm with strong rotation is moving through areas of North Carolina, to the north of Greensboro. Rockingham County in North Carolina is under a Tornado Warning through at least 8 p.m. EST.

Storms produced hail in that was at least quarter-sized in North Carolina.

A storm with rotation has triggered the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Warning for areas north of Winston-Salem in North Carolina. The thunderstorm continues to move eastward and will impacts areas north of I-40.

Meteorologists have issued a Tornado Warning for a storm cell west of Roanoke, VA that is moving eastward.

Large hail and gusty winds were reported near Ahoski, N.C.

A Tornado Warning has been issued for areas near Charlotte, N.C. for a storm that is showing rotation.

Major damage is being reported around Mebane, N.C. associated with a severe thunderstorm that pushed through the region. The same storm has triggered Tornado Warnings north of Durham, N.C.

Meteorologists have issued a Tornado Warning for areas north of Durham, NC as a severe storm continues to move east-northeastward through the state.

A tornado-warned storm is moving through western Virginia along I-81. Several towns are under the Tornado Warning as the cell moves off to the east-northeast.

Video from Crossville, Tennessee shows hailstones pelting a home as severe weather pushes through the area.

Severe thunderstorm watch

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place until 10 p.m. ET along the east coast from northeast Florida to South Carolina.

Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph are likely and scattered large hail up to 2 inches is possible.

A New Tornado Warning was just issued by the NWS for Abingdon, Brumley Gap and Wallace, Virginia until 5:15 p.m. ET.

People in the area should seek shelter now.

The NWS has issued Tornado Warnings until 5 p.m. for Edenton, North Carolina.

Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol and Abingdon, Virginia remain under a Tornado Warning until 5:15 p.m.

Tornado Warning for Pickens County, SC.

A new Tornado Warning has been issued for part of Pickens County, South Carolina until 4:45 p.m. ET.

Active weather warnings

Severe weather charging across the southeast and Mid-Atlantic has prompted nearly 30 active weather warnings. Nearly 3,000 lightning strikes have been recorded in the past 15 minutes.
